Today at the office, my client was wearing a tailor-made silk blouse. Classic cut, elegant appearance.

A colleague asked her: “Do you have a special occasion after work?”

My client smiled: “No, I’m just going home.”

If the colleague had known the price of this blouse, she probably would have said right away:

“Spending that much money on clothes – are you crazy?”

Here’s how I would respond: What someone chooses to wear is their own decision. Dismissive comments are the real sign of disrespect.

The difference between cheap and expensive clothing is by no means only the price. For me, it comes down to three things:

1. Confidence through quality

High-quality fabrics and careful craftsmanship make clothing not only more beautiful and comfortable but also longer-lasting. It doesn’t lose its shape after a few washes, it doesn’t pill, but instead gains character over time. Instead of constantly buying new things and throwing old ones away, true sustainability means wearing pieces for a long time.

2. Beauty and value as an expression of my personality

Clothing is not just functional, it is an attitude. It reflects my taste, my values, and my respect for myself. Investing in a special piece is not wasteful, but a reward: I am worth it – because I love myself.

3. A question of lifestyle

Rather than filling my wardrobe with cheap, ill-fitting items, I prefer a few pieces I truly love. Quality of life shows itself in the attention to detail.

And when someone says again: “Buying expensive clothes is crazy.”

I respond: Not crazy – but perfectly clear-minded.

After all, clothing accompanies us every day, close to our skin. So why not make sure it accompanies us in the most beautiful way possible?
